About Julya Billhymer
Julya Billhymer has dedicated her life to the pursuit of justice, fairness, and community safety. With 35 years ( 27 as attorney and 8 in law enforcement ) of experience as a criminal defense attorney , she has represented clients in both State and Federal courts, earning a reputation for integrity, balance, and compassion. Her extensive courtroom experience has prepared her to serve the people of Tarrant County with wisdom and accountability.
Before becoming an attorney, Julya served as a patrol sergeant in Tarrant and Dallas counties. This foundation in law enforcement gives her a unique perspective on the justice system—she understands the challenges faced by officers while also recognizing the importance of protecting constitutional rights. Her dual background allows her to approach cases with fairness and empathy, ensuring that justice is applied equally.
Julya earned her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Texas Woman’s University and her Juris Doctor from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law, now Texas A&M School of Law.
She is seeking election as Judge of Tarrant County Criminal Court No. 5, a court designated to handle family violence cases. Julya is committed to ensuring that every case is heard with compassion, every right is respected, and justice is delivered with integrity.
